U5 Thyroid USS

Hi. Had a lump come up on the side of my neck so sent for an USS.  This was done and found 5 lumps and was reported as U5 (malignant).  My question is what are chances of it being nothing to worry about and the scan being wrong?

Have an appointment with ENT to discuss the results but am going through all sorts of thoughts at the moment.

Thanks

  • Hello Ginge63 and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your situation, this is understandably is a worrying time for you.

Unfortunately no one here can say what the results will show or the chance of it not being cancer. However the ultrasound sound findings aren't sounding very good.

As difficult as it may be try not to over think things until you have all the facts and information about what is going on for you. It is only the doctor who can give you the results and discuss what may need to happen next.

I hope you don't have to wait too much longer and that everything turns out okay for you.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Naomi
