Backache

I’m taking Lenalomide and other tablets for myeloma since May and have developed a nagging backache which gets worse during the day.  Paracetamol does not help, only a hot water bottle.

should I be concerned about this?

  • As someone who has suffered for years with back issues, paracetamol tends to be useless for backache. If you can take/tolerate it, and it doesn't interfere with other meds, ibuprofen is a lot more effective.

Ibuprofen and heat are good. Ibuprofen gel is also an idea. I find it less effective than oral ibuprofen, but still better than paracetamol. If your back pain continues with no sign of getting better or gets a lot worse, you need to touch base with your treating doctors.

  • Hello and thanks for posting

Myeloma can cause joint pain. One of the side effects from  lenalidomide is that it can also cause joint or muscle pain.

You don't need to be overly concerned about this but it's a good idea to let your healthcare team that you are experiencing back pain. They can assess you and prescribe a painkiller that will hopefully be more effective at controlling your pain.
