Head and neck cancer radiotherapy burns

I finished my radiotherapy treatment last Friday.

The sin on my neck which was very red has now broken into blisters.

I would like advice on what to do. I am keeping it clean and putting on the cream I was given in case this happened, but should I be covering it?

I am concerned about infection

    Have you had any problems with taste or eating? Have you tried yellow paraffin on your skin?

    I’m sorry to read about the sore skin that you are experiencing following your radiotherapy treatment.

    It is normal for the skin to become red and blister during or following treatment. It is worth speaking to your radiotherapy team or nurse specialist for their advice on this as they are involved in your care. They can decide if you need to be prescribed another cream and whether a non-stick dressings to cover the area is recommended.

    A skin reaction may be at its worst two weeks after treatment, but should then start to improve after this.
