What is the likely hood that a 38mm solid white mass on my right upper lung is cancerous? I went for what I thought would be a routine ct lung health check. I have now had 2 ct scans, 1 with dye. I have a Pet scan tomorrow?
I can appreciate that you want to sense out the likelihood of a cancer, but we can't tell you anything very specific.
This is because other lung conditions, as well as lung scarring, infection, can be similar to cancer on scans. More information is needed, hence the PET scan. This scan can help provide further clinical information to the doctors. It helps determine whether lung tissue is active with disease or not. Other options may be a lung biopsy as well.
