Feeling unwell

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2022. Since then I have had chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. I finished my last immunotherapy about 8 weeks ago.

on Saturday afternoon I began to feel unwell. I felt very shivery but was away from home at a conference and was not able to locate a thermometer. I took paracetamol and went to bed. I have been in bed virtually ever since but now at home. I kept the shivering at bay with paracetamol and have taken my temperature which is good at 36.5.

Was wondering if I need to contact anyone regarding how I am feeling even though there is no temperature

  • Hello Rammygirl

I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling unwell since Saturday. Given that you're still feeling unwell it would seem sensible to give NHS 111 a call for some advice and support.

Hopefully they will be able to offer you some reassurance this evening but if they feel you need to see someone, they will be able to arrange this.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello there Rammygirl

I hope you are felling a bit better in yourself now and perhaps took the advice of the moderators and called NHS111 for advice.

The symptoms you have could well be the result of a viral illness, rather than previous cancer treatments and unfortunately taking regular paracetamol can mask a underlying temperature.

If you are still feeling unwell and haven't spoke with a doctor do contact your GP or NHS 111 for advice so they can assess you as to what may be going on.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids in the meantime.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
