Is it possible to refer yourself for breast screening?

I've found a lump and I want to get it checked asap. I have severe mental health problems and this effecting me massively.

I'm waiting to see if I can get a doctor's appointment but wondered if there was away you could refer yourself.   

 I'm 54 and my dad has cancer also.

    I'm sorry to read about your dad and you are now worried about a breast lump.

    You do need to make an appointment with your GP. They will assess you and  if necessary can refer to the breast clinic for further assessment. You can't self refer.

    If you are having difficulty making an appointment with your GP do try and speak to NHS 111

    I’m not sure if you are getting support to help manage your mental health . If not, your GP can help you with this so do mention this with them when you get the chance. You can also take a look at the NHS website Every Mind Matters on managing your mental health and look at their useful tips for getting by.

    Thank you for your response.

    I got an appointment yesterday and have now been referred to the hospital for the lump to be investigated.  I hope my appointment is quick. 

    I get help with my mental health and I'm seeing them again on Thursday. My therapist is amazing. 

    Just trying to put it to the back of my mind at the moment until I have the results. I won't tell my family until I know what's what, they have enough to deal with.
