patroid cancer possibility

Hi hopefully you can help me , my husband has a lump on his patroid gland, had a needle biopsy,  then was sent to mri , couldn't do mri as clostraphobic.  so sent for ct. Then sent for 2nd biopsy as first was inconclusive.

now being sent for another ct but of his chest . this has been going on for weeks. with going for the chest ct does that suggest they have found cancer in the lump in his patroid gland.

I lost my first husband to cancer so I need to prepare myself for the results,  and all I get off the hospital is the consultant will go through everything once all the results are back.

Please what do you think

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you and your husband are going through an anxious and uncertain time. It's understandable that you want to prepare yourself for getting his test results given what you went through with your first husband.

Although a chest CT scan is often done to check for cancer, it doesn't mean that cancer will definitely be found. It can be done as a precautionary measure to gather as much information as possible to get an accurate diagnosis.

It's really tough waiting for test results and it's natural to feel worried. But I’m afraid until the results are known no one can tell you anymore just now.

I can appreciate that you want to get as much information as you can before you go to the hospital, but unfortunately it is not possible to anticipate what they are going to tell your husband.

Waiting in circumstances like this is never easy but I’m afraid there is no real way round this. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. But until you know more it’s natural to worry.

I hope you both know more soon . Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
