How long do you have left

My husband was diagnosed on the 21st of May this year with metastatic colorectal cancer which has spread to bones adrenal and lymphatic spread there is no treatment . I have him at home. His sodium levels are 122 and he’s not eaten for 3 day. He’s seeing things that are not there also sleeps all day and night. Doesn’t want to go into hospital. How long can his body take all this.. we are completely devastated.

  • Hello and thank you for posting and I am sorry your husband is going through this.

It sounds like he is incredibly poorly now, and you need support to have him at home. If he has a palliative care team or Marie Curie nurses, they will be able to manage symptoms and provide you with emotional support. If he does not have these, then contact the GP to put this in place.

Watching someone we love slowly deteriorate is incredibly hard and exhausting. I do hope you have friends/family at this time to help you.

We do have a chapter on our website that may be hard for you to read but will have some answers to your questions at this time.

Take care Marlene, and if you need to talk to someone, call our nurses on the helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040, and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
