Anal cancer three years ago.

I had a complete response to treatment and my survellance scans are due in August .I had a very small dot of blood passed in my urine two days ago.I am seeing GP later today .I am hoping this is a urinary tract infection and not something sinister.. I am feeling anxious.

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about your past treatment for cancer and appreciate how worrying it can be to see blood unexpectedly.

It is good to hear you are seeing your GP and hopefully they can put your mind at ease. There could be so many simple reasons for this and most won't be because of cancer, so sit tight for now.

I think most people approaching their follow up appointment can become anxious about what a scan may show, so you may also be overly aware of what is going on in your body at the moment as well.

I hope everything is okay for you but please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Naomi
