Contacting my consultant

I have recently been diagnosed with colon cancer again after successful surgery in 2021  My chemo was due to start on 24th June but has been postponed due to non availability of Raltitrexed  I have tried to contact my consultant at the hospital to get results of a PET scan by ringing and e mail   The phones ring until voicemail answers but the mailbox is full and e mails are unanswered  I’ve even tried his private practice to no avail.   I’m very frustrated and a little worried that the delay will have an impact on my chances of beating this

  • Hello Guys104 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. It is frustrating that you don't have a date as to when you are starting Raltitrexed.

I would try and get hold of Pals (Patient Advice and Liaison Service). Hopefully they will be able to look in to this for you.

If you were given a bowel cancer nurse you could also try and get hold of them.

Do also keep persevering with the consultant's secretary. You could speak to the switch board to see if they have any suggestions as to how you can get through to the consultants secretary.

I do hope that one of these methods works for you.

If you would like to ring and chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a call.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
