Hi my husband has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and been on immunotherapy for 3 months, just recently  his ct scan showed his cancer has shrunk  by 5cm , his tumour  was previously 18cm now it's 13cm the doctor  said it was better than he expected but is still being told its not curable, what if the cancer carrys on shrinking what then ?

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to learn of your husband's situation this must be a difficult time.

As nurses not involved in your husband's care, we cannot recommend treatment or provide a medical opinion.  The best person to talk this through with would be his specialist or nurse specialist (CNS).

Often with immunotherapy, if someone is having a good response and can manage any side effects, they may continue the treatment for as long as it is working. Your husband's team at the hospital will be able to clarify if this will be the case.

I appreciate there is a lot of uncertainty which can be difficult to come to terms with. You would be welcome to give us a ring if you would like to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care, all the best

    Jemma
