Sleeplessness

Sadly my daughter after chemo is finding it really hard to sleep. She was given a strong drug x 2 wks to help get back into sleeping mode but now it has finished cannot do so and obviously does not wish to have anything she will become addicted too. Have tried herbal teas, walking, yoga, keep fit avoiding electrical items before going to sleep. Blackened room avoiding noise, listening to radio, no tv, nothing seems to help, not even reading a book. What can you suggest please?

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Insomnia is fairly common in some people. It is often caused by the side effects of treatment or by worry and anxiety about their condition. It usually improves over time.

In the meantime, we have some useful tips on things your daughter can try to help improve her sleep pattern.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
