ct picked up 2 lumps

i had a ct scan for my lungs they came back clear but it picked up 2 lumps 1 on my right breast and 1 on my esophegus i have been refered for an urgent Mri what does this mean my father had terminal throat cancer very worried

    I'm sorry to read about your situation and the experience you had with your dad’s cancer. This must be a worrying time for you.

    Having tests and investigations doesn't mean you definitely have cancer as there can be many medical explanations for lumps. But it does mean that the doctors are taking the possibility seriously. The MRI scan provides different information than the CT scan to help doctors make a diagnosis. Depending on the scan results a biopsy may be needed to confirm if the lumps are cancerous or not.

    Test results are usually discussed at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting, made up of many different health professionals who will discuss what the next step may be in treating a condition. A decision is usually reached when all the results are known.
