Visit care home after lobectomy

I had a lower lobe lobectomy over two months ago and am recovering well.

My mum lives in a care home and is getting over a chest infection. She is bedbound.

Is it safe for me to visit her?

Thank you

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about your situation and hope you are recovering well after your lung cancer surgery.

It is difficult for us to answer your question as we are not involved in your clinical care. Your specialist team are better placed to advise you on this as they are familiar with all your medical details. But they may advise you to wait until your mum has fully recovered from her chest infection before you visit her.

If you have a lung specialist nurse involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

I hope this reply helps a little. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene

  • Thank you Celene - that's helped me to decide. Appreciated.
