Nose Cancer

I  finished radiotheraphy a week ago after having my whole nose removed due to nose cancer.  I have ulcers in my mouth from side effects of the radiotheraphy.  This morning I have noticed very deep splits on my tongue is this normal and will it go back to normal eventually?  I am using a mouth wash prescribed by the radiotherapist.

  • Dear Stacey432 and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you have needed treatment for nose cancer.

Having searched this I have not been able to find that this is a common side effect of radiotherapy. Having said this everybody's response to treatment is different. It is perhaps worth mentioning this to your team at the hospital as they know your situation and will be able to advise you better.

I wish you well in your recovery from the radiotherapy. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care, all the best

    Jemma
