Lump size and referal

Hi,

I'm awaiting an appointment for a lump which appeared in March and was flagged as possible sarcoma but as they were unsure they put me on a 12 week watch. The lump has grown and 8 weeks in I got a private mri that showed it doubled in size. Between weeks 8-12 it's doubled in size again.

Speaking to the ultrasound dept they advise they don't need to refer a possible sarcoma if under 2cm. I'm not understanding (autism/mental health) surely a suspicious lump increasing in size should of been a red flag?

I'm unsure if I'm in limbo panic awaiting diagnosis but am struggling thinking it's spread and my body has given up already. Struggling

  • Go back to your GP and explain what you have said here, sounds like a definite 2ww to me.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm sorry to read about what's been happening. It's understandable to be worried since the lump has increased in size.

I wasn't clear what your GP has said about this. Usually if a GP suspects that someone may have a sarcoma they will refer them urgently to see a specialist. The best thing is to speak to them about this and they will advise on what needs to happen next.

The majority of lumps turn out to be harmless but they should be checked out just to be on the safe side.

I hope you know more soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,
