Post Vacuum Assisted Excision Questions

Hi,

I had a Vacuum Assisted Excision on a lump  1 & 1/2 weeks ago. The bruising has nearly gone but I am still very swollen and am getting different feelings in my breast such as sudden twinges, aches, as well a slight numbness. I know it hasn't been very long recovering yet but I wondered if this sounds normal?

I didn't really get given much information around the whole procedure and recovering process so I am quite unsure so just want to check what others think about this.

Thanks :)

  • Hello Jules096 and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear you are currently undergoing tests and are awaiting some biopsy results.

It usually take a couple of weeks for the site where a biopsy is taken to settle down.

Some people do experience some swelling after this procedure, however if you think the swelling is worsening alongside any pain or discomfort it is best to get it checked by your doctor, just to be on the safe side.

We have more information about breast biopsy on our website, that you may also find useful to read.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes
