Melatonin

Is it safe to take melatonin after treatment for grade 1 breast cancer?

  • Hello Gray10 and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you had treatment for breast cancer but hope you are recovering well.

Melatonin is sometimes prescribed by doctors for patients for a short while to help with sleep. Do speak with your doctor to see if this is possible, but also to check like with other supplements that is safe for you to take and won't interact with any other medications you may be on.

We have a section of information on our website about difficulty sleeping and cancer that may also be useful to read.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
