Low cell B-cell lymphoma

Hello. My tissue biopsy indicated possibility of low cell B-cell lymphoma. I was referred to a haematology for further assessment. This was over 1 month ago. I haven't received any appointments yet - is this normal to wait for a follow up appointment that long? I'm asking as I had seen the specialist and had my biopsy done very quickly and now I have a possible diagnosis and no one seems to care any more. Thank you.

  • Hello redpumpkin and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are waiting so long for your results.

Sometimes it does take a while for the pathologist to examine the biopsy. Your case may also have been discussed at a haematology meeting where all the doctors involved in your care meet to discuss any new cases. I would phone the haematology secretary to see if they can look in to it for you.

Most hospitals have a Pals (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) and if you are unable to get hold of the secretary they may be able to look into this for you.

I do hope that you hear more soon.

If you would like to ring and speak to one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to do so. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine
