What's the process for receiving breast biopsy results

Hi my wife had a letter today saying she as appointment in 2 weeks time at breast surgery clinic but we was told last week that results wasn't  going to the MDT meeting until tommmow just wondering if this is a standard practice or does it mean bad news to get a letter she was referred 2 weeks ago and had biopsies thank you

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

Every hospital does things differently so I don't think you can read too much in to what it all means. There are many different breast conditions other then cancer but until you sit down with the doctor or nurse no one will be able to tell you any more.

All potential cancer patients are discussed in an MDT (Multi disciplinary Team) meeting but in regard to the timings there are variations in different hospitals.

I know that it is an anxious making time.

If at any stage either of you would like to speak to one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a ring.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the best,

    Catherine
