Hello and thanks for your post
You explain that your husband has a lump on his side and is experiencing pain. Pain can sometimes be caused by superficial nerves being damaged during the surgery. Damaged nerves can take a while to repair themselves.
I'm not sure if your husband has mentioned these symptoms to his hospital doctors, GP, or nurse specialist. They can assess his lump and pain and explain what can be done to sort this out so he is more comfortable.
Nerve pain tends not to respond to regular painkillers. Drugs such as amitriptyline seem to work better. But it can take time for them to do their job as the starting dose is usually small to begin with and then gradually increased. And there can be some trial and error to get the best choice of these medicines at the right dose to get on top of the pain.
I hope this is of some use and that your husband's symptoms improve soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
