My GP ordered my a FIT test, which came back positive. She then went to refer me on the 2 week wait pathway but informed me she couldn’t do this as I am under 40. How can this be correct with a positive test? She’s advices me she is seeking advice and guidance and will get back to me when she hears something. In the mean time I am so frightened about everything. Please help.

    I can appreciate that this is a worrying time for you. However, please know that not all positive FIT test results will necessarily mean someone has cancer.

    We have information about the suspected bowel cancer referral guidance which you may wish to read and give to your GP.

    It is reassuring that your GP has said they are seeking more information about your situation so I hope they get back to you soon.
