New User, recent ovarian diagnosis

In my 50's and have had a dermoid cyst for years which I have now been told is possible cancer and have had, MRI, CT and various tumour marker tests with my CA125 high (39). Any information on how things will develop, what to expect now, please? 2 weeks till next NHS appointment. Many thanks for any information, even though I have been researching online, I do not want to go down a rabbit hole and have no family support as yet.

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

It is possible that the doctor you see may wish to do more tests including blood tests. They may wish to do a biopsy or perform a surgical procedure to remove the whole cyst, and then look at it under a microscope. You can read more about how ovarian cancer is diagnosed on our website, this might give you more of an idea about what might happen.

It can never be easy waiting to be seen but I am afraid you will have to wait to be seen to really understand what will happen for you.

I hope you are going to be okay and have some support. You may also wish to post in another area of Cancer Chat where more people will see your post.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
