Bowl moment and blood

My mother-in-law is in a care home with end of life care she went to the toilet for a wee and she also had a bowl movement and when she had finished I noticed that she had lost quite a bit of blood I have informed the care home about it but I was just wondering what this mean please thankyou in advance

  • Hello TigerLily_16 and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.

It is difficult to give an opinion about her blood loss without being involved in her care. It is really only a doctor who has details of her past medical history who may be able to give an opinion as to the cause of her bleed but to find out more they would probably have to do some investigations which they may not think is in her best interests.

There may be a doctor who visits the home who you could ask.

I do hope that despite the bleed that she is comfortable and not in any pain.

You are more then welcome to ring and chat through any of this with one of the helpline nurses.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
