They also said the lymph nodes in the armpit were working harder than they should we are waiting for biopsy results was just wondering what it ment thanks Martin

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm not completely sure what the doctors meant when they said that your wife's lymph glands were working harder than they should be.

It's possible that they they meant her lymph glands were enlarged. They can enlarge for many reasons such as a local skin infection, or a blocked or inflamed lymph gland (lymph node). Sometimes lymph nodes come up in response to a recent bacterial or viral infection elsewhere in the body even when a person feels well. But they do have to be checked out just to be sure.

Waiting for biopsy results is very stressful. But I’m afraid until the results are known no one can tell you anymore for now.

Waiting in circumstances like this is never easy but I’m afraid there is no real way round this. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. But until you both know more it’s natural to worry.

I hope everything turns out to be okay. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
