Hi my dad recently went to the doctors with a bad back after they examined him and asked questions he’s told them he has bad night sweats pain in his feet and sometimes has a cough the doctors have told him it could be cancer and has to go back for his bloods taking the next day. Does this mean it probably is cancer and also how long does it normally take for them to get the blood results back

    I'm sorry you are worried about your dad's health.

    When doctors mention the possibility of cancer they often order blood and other tests to find out what might be the matter. It's important to remember that the symptoms your dad is experiencing can be caused by many different conditions, not just cancer.

    Generally routine blood tests can take a few days to come back.

    Easier said than done, but try not to worry too much. Your dad's GP will advise on what the next steps are when the test results are known.

    Thank you for the reply Celene he’s had his bloods taking today and just got his appointment for his scan which is on Sunday which is really quick we not sure if that’s a good sign or a bad sign
