  • Hello and thanks for your post

It's not uncommon for scar tissue to remain thick and uncomfortable for some time after treatment. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can both contribute to prolonged healing times and changes in tissue texture and sensitivity.

You can try massaging in some cream twice a day, to help stretch and soften the area. Many patients have used Bio Oil or Vitamin E oil/cream to help scar tissue. But, if your scar tissue keeps causing you significant discomfort or you remain worried about it's appearance or how it feels, it's important to discuss this with your breast care team. If you have a breast care nurse involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
