My mother died from complications of cancer, she had anal skin cancer, I am experiencing the same symptoms she had and I'm scared. My GP has told me it's IBS, but it just doesn't feel like that.

Many people contact us because they are concerned that the symptoms they have might be caused by cancer. We cannot diagnose you and although you have already spoken with your doctor the best advice we can give is to go back and talk to them again.
It is important to know the symptoms you are experiencing do not mean they are caused by cancer. I wondered if your doctor was aware of your concerns. The doctors have guidelines of what tests they need to do and when to urgently refer someone to the hospital for tests to rule out cancer. So do chat with them again, it is also worth asking if they can recommend anything to help with the symptoms.
