Nighttime headaches and pain in eyes

We have a friend who is post brain tumour surgery which he had last year.

He couldn't have every bit of the tumour removed so has had 2 maybe 3 rounds of chemo. I think he's also had anti sickness meds plus  steroids.

He made a good recovery from op with no complications.

The last 2 nights he has not slept well and has woken up with a bad headache and pain around/in his eyes.

His wife has tried phoning his designated nurse who's not available (on holiday) and also his consultant I think.

We are concerned for him and suggested they contact their GP but don't think they're keen to do that.

Can you give any advice please.

  • Hello Sally and thank you for posting.

I am sorry to hear about your friend.

The best people to speak to are the team at the hospital or his GP, as they are the only ones who can assess him and decide if further investigations of these symptoms are needed

As we are going into the weekend they may need to call 111 if they continue to be concerned, or in an urgent situation dial 999.

Take care Sally and if you want to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.

Thanks for your reply. I know they're worried so maybe they will decide to call their GP. Thanks again, Sally
