Follicular lymphoma

I would like some advice , I finished my chemo in September 2023, I was supposed to start my immunotherapy , but it developed a nasty lung infection and was told i should not go ahead with the treatment, since then I’ve only had about 3 telephone calls from my chemo nurses, and I suppose to have more appointments or regular tests? Or see the doctor face to face?

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

How people are followed up will depend on their situation, such as how well they are after treatment.  I am afraid we do not know when your next appointment should be.

If you have a cancer nurse specialist you could contact them and ask when your next appointment with the medical team is. You may need to leave a message on their telephone and they will get back to you.

If you do not have the number of a cancer nurse specialist then if you know the name of the doctor you have seen before or who is in charge of your care you could leave a message with their secretary. You can be put through to them via the hospital's switchboard.

If you have no information about who you can contact you could also get in touch with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) as they will be able to contact your team to find out when you will be next seen.

We do have general information about how people with lymphoma are followed up on our website, it might help to read this.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
