A little advice or info would be great

I'm ten years past menopause and I've been getting boob ache on off for a year or so and cramps and the odd spotting. The boobs got checked and they're ok and I never got an explanation why the ache so I live with it. It's like the symptoms of a period but don't actually have them anymore.

What's got me spooked is this week day by day the spotting has got thicker and pinker - not blood tho - but pinker and not just the one time no more in the morning it's every pee.

After a internet lookup I decided not to wait and I phoned 111. Got the usual blurb for paracetamol pain but told ti contact GP tomorrow it's urgent they see me (Sunday today and no way I'm doing the hospital weekend thing over this but I just had the feeling it's not good... Anyway!

What attitude should I expect from GP tomorrow? Is this really a possible big C thing? I just need to get my head round it. Thanks

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

it is good that you are making an appointment with your GP.

There can be several reasons why you you are having this discharge other then cancer but it is important that you have it checked to rule anything serious out. Your GP in the first instance may organise a blood test and arrange an ultrasound so that the pelvic area can be investigated.

Try if you can not to let your mind run away from you

The NHS have produced some information on post menopausal bleeding that you might find helpful to read.

If you would like to ring and talk any of this through with one of the nurses on the helpline you are welcome to give us a call.

Our helpline number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
