Qfit test result 200

Hi, I'm just after a bit of reassurance if possible. I recently had an episode of rectal bleeding and the nurse ordered a Qfit test for me. This came back with a result of 200. I have now been referred for urgent colonoscopy. I'm panicking a bit now. I don't have any other symptoms such as weight loss but do sometimes have slightly looser stools for no apparent reason. I am 45 years old with no other relevant medical history. What do you think the chances are that it is colorectal cancer?

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you are having some symptoms and are waiting for more tests, this must be a worry for you.

Blood in the stools can be caused by lots of different things and in most cases the reason will be something other than bowel cancer. However it is best to get the bowel inspected more closely just to be on the safe side, which is why you are having the colonoscopy.

Unfortunately no one here can say what the camera will show, so i'm afraid you need to try and sit tight for now. Keeping yourself busy and your mind on other things can help pass time whilst waiting.

I hope all goes well for you.
