Worrying after diagnosis

I had a cancerous melanoma removed in July 2017 at the age of 70. I also had a lymphodectomy, it was clear.  I had check ups for 5years, which l looked forward too as l was checked out. Now when l see something unusual l do get nervous. I do not like to take up my GP's time.  Is there anyway l can have an annual check up??  Could my GP do this??

Advice please.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

It's completely understandable to feel nervous if you notice anything unusual after what you've been through.

If you are worried about any new symptoms it's important to get them checked by your GP just to be on the safe side. It's also important to speak to them about whether they can offer you an annual check up or recommend where you should go to have one.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
