Lung cancer

My 69 year old dad has stage 3a lung cancer in the left lung, it's 3.8 cm and also a 3 cm in the node. It is localised advanced lung cancer and unfortunately his mental health has swayed him from having any biopsies and also can't get out of house to have any treatment. He has stopped eating and is so thin now and he is very weak. Because we don't know what kind of cancer we feel that we don't know what's to come or expect, he is having hot an cold sweats an has diarrhea, he is paranoid alot also and he is having so many panic attacks. The hospice nurse said months but we still don't feel none the wiser.

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am very sorry to hear about your dad's situation and I can appreciate that this is a difficult time for you and your family.

It is difficult for us to know about your dad as we are not involved in his care. However, it is reassuring to know that he is under the care of the hospice as I hope they are keeping in contact with your dad and you and that you are able to contact them if you need to. It might help to have a discussion about what is happening and what to expect.

It might be helpful to look at the information from Marie Curie

You may also find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
