Colonoscopy

Hi,  I'm having my 1st volonoscopy since my hemicolectomy 4 years ago and I've got myself so worked up I can't sleep or eat.  My stomach is doing somersaults.  I've had regular cts with contrast and cea bloods all of which have been good.

I work at the hospital that I'm having it done and find it difficult to keep asking them questions.

Any advice would definitely help the scope is on Thursday.

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

Having your follow-up colonoscopy after completing bowel cancer treatment is bound to be a worry.

It is reassuring to know that no test or investigation has seen a recurrence so far.

I am afraid that it is now all about waiting to get the colonoscopy done and then for the results. Which is fair to say is never easy.

Many people find keeping busy with everyday things.  Also, discussing what worries you with your family and friends might help you cope better.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
