Advice

Dad had prostrate removal six years ago and his PSA levels were in January obviously a concern as his Dr sent  a referral. I chased and the hospital said either fast track urgent or routine would be offered once the Consultant had reviewed the test results. Dad’s appointment was for June so I felt relieved but  he was called and went in last week. I couldn’t attend and my parents weren’t clear what was going on, both 80. Dad had to have a bone scan today which I went to and has an MRI next week. Does this mean his cancer has possibly  come back?

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis of prostate cancer and I can appreciate the concern you have.

I am afraid that you will have to wait until the results of the bone scan and MRI are known, to understand if the cancer has come back. There is no way of knowing until then.

Waiting for the results of scans and investigations can be a difficult time. So, I hope you know more about your dad's situation soon.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
