Brain cancer panic

I’m experiencing left sided loss of sensation with some tingling and feeling a bit more cold than the right side.
no headaches, no seizure, no loss of strength. Yet I’ve wholly convinced myself I have a brain tumour!
I work for the NHS as an OT and see a lot of very poorly people which doesn’t help.
advice with how to deal with the anxiety while I await MRI?

  • Hello Holly2604

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are experiencing, awaiting tests is never easy.

Steering clear of google to get answers about what may be going on is something we always advise people about. The internet cannot diagnose an individual person and it is only the tests and the doctor involved in a persons care who can say what may be causing symptoms.

Try not to over think things if you can. Remember symptoms can be caused by lots of different things but in most cases the cause won't be cancer. Keeping busy and your mind on other things can be helpful so make sure your diary is full until you have your scan.

Mind also has a section of information called selfcare for anxiety, so do take a look at this to help you through.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Take care

    Naomi
