Mum 76 has been diagnosed with womb cancer after biopsy. MRI was inconclusive due to artificial hip

Hi there,

We are in the waiting stage that I have been reading about. Isn't it ghastly?

They think they have caught it early but tomorrow she needs a PET scan because the MRI glitches due to her artificial hip.

The letter says full body scan?

Is this normal?

Her designated nurse says it is because they are trying to make sure she requires as little treatment as possible.

Sorry to be vague but as of yet this is all we know and it's so worrying.

Love and light to all x

  • Hello Tulip, and thank you for posting. I am sorry to hear about Mum and her diagnosis of womb cancer.

In the beginning, they must investigate fully so that they understand your mum's cancer. The specialists involved can then tailor the treatments exactly to her needs. By understanding exactly where the cancer is, which a full scan will do, they will be able to put together the best plan for her.

As you say the waiting game for more information is so hard, please use the forum, or ring the nurses on our helpline if you need further support.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040, and the lines are open from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Take care, and I hope you know more about Mum's situation soon.

    Sarah.
