Results following surgery for Breast Cancer

Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and had surgery on March 20th. I still don't have my results. My appointment has been cancelled 3 times now, so it will be 6 weeks next week. This seems like a longtime to wait. How long do results normally take?

Thanks

  • Hi Kiaran, and thank you for posting

I am so sorry that it is taking so long for your results to come back. These timeframes can vary across the country for many different reasons. What is essential is they work out exactly what type, as well as stage, and grade of breast cancer that someone has. They can then accurately plan what may be needed next.

Breast Cancer Now has more information on a breast cancer diagnosis and other forms of support if helpful.

I can see from your further posts that the results are hopefully coming soon. During this time do use the forum for the support you need, and you can also call us on the helpline to talk things through.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Sarah.
