Secondary breast cancer in bone

I have severe intermittent shooting pains in top right thigh and down leg. Physio thinks femoral nerve problem but I am also nauseous and very tired.  Breast cancer 20 years ago. Spread to lymph so had chemo and radiotherapy after lumpectomy.  Recent mammogram clear. Do I need to rule out secondaries in bone?

I'm 70.

Thanks for any advice

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I can understand your concern. Symptoms are often due to different causes, so your leg pain, nausea, and tiredness, may not be directly related.

You may want to discuss this with your GP, who can pick apart your symptom reporting, and advise you further. They can order x-rays, or a scan, to help determine the cause of persistent back/leg problems. They can also do some routine blood tests, to check for causes of fatigue, as anaemia, or thyroid or blood sugar issues can make this worse.

I hope that you get help with your situation soon,

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,

    Vanda

  • Thank you very much.   Secondaries are a worry.  I will follow up with gp if symptoms persist
