Diagnosed stage 4 ovarian ca & full op Jan 2018. Unfortunately misdiagnosed by gp for one year who said I had small prolapse! Two rounds chemotherapy which was fine. Further op removing 8 lymph nodes & subsequent r hemicolectomy 2019 & radiation. In remission for 4 years.  Seizures July 2023 & mobility issues July 2023 diagnosed auto immune epilepsy and finally diagnosed with Hashimoto enchelitis. In steroids gained 1st one & keppra. On IVIG infusions every 8 wks. Didn’t work. Now discovered by gp bleeding and watery discharge! No pain but hard lump growth vaginal wall. Awaiting assessment from gynecologist and oncologist. Could this be secondary cancer? Awaiting CEA 125 levels. If so what treatment if any?

  • Hello Faf, and thank you for your posting.

I am sorry to learn of your situation, this must be a difficult time for you.

Unfortunately as nurses not involved in your care, we cannot say whether or not the lump that has been found is the cancer coming back. Hopefully you do not have too long to wait before you are seen by the team at the hospital and have clarification of your situation.

If it is found the lump is being caused by cancer, treatment will depend on several things, such as the size of the cancer and if it has spread, what treatment you had previously and how well you are generally, whether or not you have any other health conditions. If possible, further surgery may be recommended or chemotherapy depending on the response you had in 2018 when you first had it.

It is always a difficult time waiting for an appointment from the hospital and blood results because there is a lot of uncertainty for you.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Take care Faf, all the best

    Jemma
