Testicular cancer

Hello,

I am young around 16 and, I don't know what to do. I don't know whether I have testicular cancer or not, one of my testicles is about double the size of the other or 1.5 times the other. But I don't know whether it has changed or has always been like this as I haven't checked my balls often before as I am really young. I really don't want to talk to anyone about this but I don't want to have testicular cancer. Other than this I have no other signs such as I don't have any lumps on my balls or anything else. Do I have testicular cancer?

Thank you,

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm sorry you are feeling concerned. We would always say to someone who has any health worries that they discuss it with their doctor.  We are not able to diagnose (tell you what is wrong). Because you don't have any lumps or any other symptoms it is very unlikely that you will have cancer but do have a chat with your doctor who I am sure will be able to put your mind at rest.

To try and help reassure you it is quite normal to have one testicle bigger then the other.  You may find it helpful to read the information on how to examine your testicles.

The NHS website also has some helpful information about what your testicles should look and feel like.

I hope that this has helped reassure you but if you have any worries then do chat to your doctor.

Do share any worries you have with a parent or another trusted adult as talking about something that is playing on your mind can help.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
