Sore nipple

Hi all,

I’m 12 days post op (Lumpectomy & Lymph node removal) recovering well regarding my wounds but I’m suffering with a really sore nipple. I’m presuming it’s a combination of rubbing against my bras , which I’ve been constantly wearing , and as a result of all that’s gone on inside! (The wound from my lumpectomy is under my breast and slightly to the side.) Has anyone any tips or advice please? I’m putting a little bit of  Vaseline on daily and that’s slightly helped but I was wondering if there is something better.  Thank-you

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Vaseline can be drying when used regularly. You could consider barrier cream, such as sudocrem (as those used for nappy rash).

Your local pharmacist can advise, as there are many products. Natural options include calendula cream, which Boots/online health stores sells.

Your hospital breast care nurse may have particular brands they have experience of.

    Hope this is helpful,
