Repeated blood in urine

Hi.  My husband has had blood in his urine on several occasions over the last 18 months.,  He's had two cystoscopies, the results of which have been clear but the bleeding has just come back again.  He is reluctant to go back to the GP and start the process again as the hospital said that there was nothing to worry about at the start of the year and were a bit dismissive to be honest.  They said it might infections, might be kidney stones, might be other things but nothing definitive and it is very worrying for him.  When it happens he gets a pain just above his left testicle.  The bleeding lasts for several days.  Just don't know what we should do.  Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

  • Hello TedEagles and thank you for posting.

If your husband is having symptoms that are causing him concern, the best thing to do is to be safe and get things checked with his GP.

I appreciate he is reluctant to do this. Still, as they know his situation he could discuss with the GP, what the best way forward is following his recent clear cystoscopy at the start of the year. The GP might also be able to speak with the urology team at the hospital on his behalf to get advice if further tests are needed at this point.

I hope this helps a little, take care

    Jemma
