Unfortunately, as nurses, we are not in a position to provide a comment on someone's prognosis (outlook). It is your specialist that is best placed to provide specific clinical information, and also to place this in context for you too. Often, doctors will discuss how best to control a cancer, and will talk in terms of remission, rather than use the word cure, if a cancer has spread to elsewhere in the body.

New treatments are being researched all the time, and newer drugs are being used, so it makes it harder for doctors to predict exactly how someone's cancer will behave, as each individual person, can respond differently to the treatments used.
