Lump in breast

I’ve had a fibroadmena removed nearly 2 years ago and have recently found another lump. They gave me mammogram and ultrasound as they couldn’t find lump while examining me. During ultrasound they found another cyst but wanted to drain it as it looked different. She then told me they needed to do a core biopsy as it was not a cyst. The fluid looked clear when I saw the syringe. Dr told me it was 8mm and not to worry as it was so small. But I’m extremely worried as I got mammogram, ultrasound , fna and cnb. I know Dr said not to worry but am worried cos of the fna was not a cyst. What could of shown up on the fna to get a cnb

  • Hello mejabb and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are having further tests for your breast. I can understand how unsettling it can be waiting for further tests and  results.

Without being involved in your care it is difficult to comment about the cyst on your breast. Try if you can not to overthink it for now. There are many benign (not cancer) breast cancer conditions but it is important that the cyst is investigated properly and anything serious is ruled out.

I can't say why they have decided to do a core needle biopsy (CNB) but sometimes a doctor wants a pathologist to look at the cells under a microscope to get more information.

I do hope you know more soon.
