I have no one to go with me

I have an appointment next week and I’m terrified.  I have no one to go with me

  • Hi Maddy22, I'm sorry you're having such a stressful time. I went to my investigation appointment on my own and it included a biopsy. I had a nurse and consultant with me for all the medical bits and there was good support I'd say. I hope you find the same xx

  • Hello Maddy

When I went for my appointment with the consultant I was alone because my husband is too weak to accompany me. To my surprise there were many women in the waiting area on their own. Please don't worry!  The nurses and staff at the hospital will look after you and explain all the procedures. I was reassured at every step in those three hours and left feeling confident that something will be done for my situation.

    Best wishes,

    afd

  • Hello Maddy 22,

By now you will see the helpful replies from people who have posted, and now understand that many people go on their own to these appointments.  You will be supported by the nurses and medical team at the clinic. However, it may give some more reassurance if,when you book in at the clinic, you say you would like a nurse with you when you go in for your appointment.

I hope the appointment goes well. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
