Salivary gland adenocarcinoma

Hi

I was told yesterday that I have a low grade salivary gland
adenocarcinoma, and as you can imagine I’m terrified of the word Cancer , the doctor and McMillan nurse all seemed quite positive and said I just needed a operation to make sure all was removed as this was a very small lump on the roof of my mouth that was removed and sent to biopsy, obviously biopsy came back with this .

  • Hi Paledy and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn of your recent diagnosis. I can understand how this can make you feel frightened.

Fear can be a natural emotion to being given a cancer diagnosis. You may find it helpful to read our webpage on how to cope with fear, anxiety, and panic.

It might help you to talk to someone about your diagnosis. Macmillan has useful advice on their webpage on how to talk about cancer.

The fact that your hospital's specialists feel positive sounds extremely promising. Cancers that are diagnosed in their early stages have a higher chance of being cured.
