Long term radiotherapy effects

Hi,

I had 15 sessions of radiotherapy following a lumpectomy in Nov 2022. I've been getting pain in the area since December 24. I had it checked and was told the ppain was a classic long term effect of the radiotherapy and not to worry. (I was worried the cancer might be back). My ribs are sore and I have recently developed a cough and feel washed out after the least bit of exercise. I'm assuming it's just a virus and not connected to the radiotherapy. Should I go back to the doctors to have it checked? I think I have a bit of health anxiety!

Thanks

  • Hi Kagzy and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are having and appreciate they can be a worry.

It was wise of you to get your recent rib pain examined. Additionally, I would suggest that you have these new symptoms investigated. Either by your specialty nurse,  or your GP.

It is most probably a virus but it is always best to have any new symptoms checked.
