Breast tissue growth

I am nearing the end of my hormone treatment for prostate cancer and was wondering if my breast tissue will go down on its own or do I need to see a GP

  • Hi Snooze47 and thank you for your post

I am sorry to hear about the side effects you are experiencing due to the hormone therapy you are on.

It is not unusual for men to develop breast tissue (known as gynaecomastia)  whilst on this treatment.

Do talk to your doctor about this problem, if you haven't already, so they can assess you and discuss if there are treatment options available to you. Sometimes it is treated and managed with radiotherapy, tamoxifen, or surgery.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Tina

  • Cheers for the information I will speak to my GP.
